OAR DRIVER’S EVIDENCE

(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 30. An inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of a boy. Harold Vincent Cole, who died as the result of injuries he received in an accident on the North Road on September 20, was held to-day before the coroner (Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt. S.M.). The evidence showed- that deceased was riding a bicycle and when crossing the road he collided with a. motor-car driven by a farmer named Bucldle. who stated that he did not see the boy till right on top of him and too late to pull up. He was so shocked when he saw the hoy lying on the ground that lie became quite confused. He had been to the Wallacetown Hotel during the day, but he only had five medium shandies. All in the car were perfectly sober.

After similar evidence had been submitted, the coroner said that he. did not consider that for .the purposes of the inquest it would be necessary to call further evidence. He therefore returned a verdict that deceased died through a collision between a bicycle ridden by deceased and a motor-car driven by Leonard Buddie.
