OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT
HERE’S PICTURE-LIKE JOURNEY TO PARIS.
If you can’t go to Paris the nearest, you can approach it is to go to- the Opera House, where “A Man’s Mate” opens this evening. . The Eox star, John Gilbert, gives a jileasihg screen performance in a picture that holds the attention of the audience throughout. He is ably supported by Renee Adoree. . Gilbert has the part of an artist who meets an Apache girl in a Paris drinking place. * Circumstances take them to a quiet farmhouse in the peaceful countryside. With the girl as a model the artist does a canvas that is later hailed as a masterpiece. Then love sweeps these two rapturously along. There is a rift in the lute, however. But to tell the story here would detract from its romantic" thrilk when you view it on the Opera House screen. If you like red-blooded' love stories, teeming with action, “A Man’s Mate” will give you a satisfactory evening’s entertainment. The supports include Clyde Cook in “The Orphan” and Pox News. This programme will be transferred to the Grand to-morrow evening. ' Patrons are reminded that the tax on tickets up to 2s is no longer in force.

By comparison it is a far superior work, and : the more we think of “To the Ladies” as a James Cruze production, the more we are convinced, that, when it copies to motion pictures, at least, we have to hand it “to the men.” Also showing “Hurricane Hutch.” Prices V- and 1/6.
