TRANSPORT DIFFICULTIES,
In further reference to this subject, whicri was brought up by the deputation at the meeting of the local board on luesday last, the chairman of the Manaia Committee writes as follows: The director deprecates the multiplication of small secondary schools in districts where children can be conveyed, and our last communication from him asked us to try to arrange with the Technical High School Board for suitable conveyance before anything fur-' ther would be- done in connection with. o.ur High School. Hence tlije deputation consisting of Mr Nairn and' myself, who said that if proper conveyance could be. arranged by -Hawera-, Manaia would he willing to withdraw, its application. I lie Board were given very clearly (o understand that- the conveyance must be free, and that it must run to school hours. Failing that, we run for our school for all we are worth. It may be added, that, the chairman of the Hawera Board informs us that already several tenders'for the service have been received, which have been submittd to the Department. He expects their decision very shortly on the matter.
