(From Qur Own Correspondent.) CYCLE AND ATHLETIC CLUB. A special: of the above club was held in the bandroom last night. There was a good attendance.,,. The chairman (Mr; W. S. Heyes) presided. The secretary (Mr. H. Nuttall) ' reported the club’s finances were very satisfactory. ' A: credit balance of £33 was in hand. There was also a credit balance in hand as a result of the seven-a-side football tournament. Mr. Nuttall also /read correspondence concerning several riders who had failed to pay their 1 nomination fees, and on the motion of Messrs. ■ Casey and Gower it was decided to place all such deon the forfeit list. ’ The ■ Neu r Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union wrote stating that the annual meeting will be held on October 1. Nuttall and IT. Ward were/appointed to represent the club at the meeting. The chairman said that" the meeting should decide if it was intended to continue the annual sports meetings. Last year the meeting was a success and a substantial profit had been made. - 'Mr. It. Gower moved, and Mr. A. Were seconded, that the meeting is in favour of holding the usual sports meeting and that the date be arranged later. Mr. Casey said that he was of the opinion that there were too many counter attractions on' Boxing Bay, and that he thought some date in February -would be more suitable. Mr.' Nuttall said that Boxing Bay had always been their day, but thought perhaps a trial on another day would be beneficial. The chairman said that as he was leaving the district he would ask the club to accept his resignation, and lie wished to thank the members tor the support, and assistance given him during his term of office. Mr. Nuttall; after speaking appreciatively of the work of the chairman, moved that the club record its appreciation of the work of Mr. Heyes during his term of office, and that the resignation be accepted with regret. Mr. Casey seconded the motion, which was carried. The secretary also resigned his position, the being accepted with sincere regret. Nominations for the position of were called for, and on the motion of Messrs. Ward and Were Mr. Nuttall was appointed chairman and Mr. Hector Taylor secretary.
