To an interviewer in Manila she said that women in Australia and New Zealand display little interest in local politics and' still less in national issues, although they have heen enjoying the right for more than 30 vears. . “Perhaps the reason may be found in their ingrained conservatism. Living under the flag ,of that most conservative of nations—England—they are loath to depart from the old ways,” Mrs Mavitv suggested. “Also they were granted suffrage without a fight. Our women had to fight vigorously for their right to vote, and the struggle aided greatly in educating/them to political ooportunities. They are keenly interested in politics, and realise fully that their welfare to a large degree is dependent upon them. ” TO PEL [EYE E APACHE.
