. What surely must have been the longest game in the world has ever known has just ended. It nvas a chess match between lawyers in London and New lork,-and it has lasted four years. The games were what, are called ‘‘ consultation’ ’ games; that is to say, sevei al .players consult about the moves to be made. When they had decided they sent their move by post, and sometimes a month would elapse before there was ,an answering move. Two games were played, of which England won one, while the other was drawn.
