OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT
“LADIES TO BOARD.”
Tom Mix has had some funny experiences, cinematic-ally speaking, but it, remained for. his latest starring vehicle, “Ladies to Board,” which comes to the Opera House to-night for a two-day run, to furnish the prize thrill. He inherits an old ladies 5 home! M r illiam Dudley Pelley has furnished one of the best 'and funniest stories Mix has appeared in during his long career, according to advance reports. Tom Faxton, played by Mix, is a rarin’ cow puncher, fiis half portion biiddy, Bunk McGinnis, played by Pee Wee Holmes, suggests that they take a trip to Boston to look over the bean foundries. Tom is not the kind to stand idly by with a lady in distress. .So, when Anastasia McFirth. a kindly old spinster, gets, in trouble with a motor truck, Tom hauls her out of harm’s highway. • She is ■so deeply indebted that when she nasses away some time later she wills McFirth’s Sanatorium for Old Ladies to Tom. Tom shies at the bequest, but when Bunk lets loose his business acumen the partners go forth to take over the place and sell it. Things begin to happen. They happen fast and furiouslv. and it would be unfair to. divulge the balance of the plot. The supporting programme includes an excellent Sunshine comedv, “A Waiter’s Wasted Life.” '

EMPRESS PICTURES, XORMANBY. TO-NIGHT (WEDNESDAY). William S. Hart in “Wild Bill Hickok. ” The familiar old announcement is once mere in evidence at the Empress Pictures. Normanbv, where the Paramount picture is to be given its premier presentation this evening. The story was written and produced by Mr Hart. It is a thrilling tale of, the days when the West was Won —of frontier feuds, loves and passions, superbly portrayed by a east, of screen artists, among them Ethel Grey Terry, leading woman. Also show-ing splendid comedv and the popular serial “Hurricane Hutch,” episode four. Prices as usual. OPERA HOUSE. HAWERA. . TUESDAY NEXT. RETURN OF UHERNIAYSKYS.
The Cherninvsky . Bros—Leo, Jan and Michel—will appear here for one night, Tuesday next, Musical eritic-s throughout, the world have considered that the Cherniavskys, as trio players, are without equals, but the great feature of their work is that each one is a soloist of outstanding excellence. The programme arranged for their first concert will give scope to their unusual versatility. The three brothers bear very little resemblance to one another, either in appearance or in personality. Leo is almost overwhelmingly vigorous and robust; Jan gives a suggestion of the spiritual, and Misehel is eager and earnest. The one great characteristic they have in common is a naive and delightful sense of humour, which is the strongest element of their private life, and which frequently creeps into their music. Travelling .’as they .have done since early childhood, they have gathered a vast amount of experience, and a fluency in many languages which makes them most entertaining, not only ns musicians, but a s conversationalists. The box plan is now open and the prices of admission are advertised in another column.
