JAPS ON STRIKE.
SEAMEN’S ATTITUDE
BY CABLE—PBESB ASSOCIATION—COP YBIGHT
(Received Sept. 24, 1.30 p.m.) TOKIO, Sept, 22. To-day being a national holiday there were no definite developments of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha Shipping Co. ’s strike, which, in view 7 of possible farreaching consequences, is absorbing public attention to. the exclusion of all else. Publication of yesterday’s statement by the directors led .to further rejoinders on the part of the strikers, whose attitude is reported to be stiffening, owing to assurances of support from branch offices. Everywhere seamen, with the exception of one section, ■which is reported to be backing up the president, maintain neutrality. Should they be forced into the dispute the situation would be greatly complicated.
