FARMERS’ UNION.

KAPUNI BRANCH. A meeting representative of the local members of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Kapuni Hall on the evening of the 21st inst. Owing no doubt to the threatening appearance of the weather the attendance was rather small, there being only ten of the twentyfive members present. Mr L. 11. McAlpine, who has been doing organising work in the South Taranaki district for the last two months, addressed the meeting at some length on the subject of the proposed agricultural bank, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.

The following resolution was then unanimously passed: “That this branch of the Farmers’ Union desires to record its implicit faith in the scheme for the agricultural bank as promulgated by Mr Poison, the Dominion president, and urges upon the member the desirability of leaving no stone unturned to have the Bill concerning it made law before the end of the present session.”

During the course of the evening it was decided to/ form a local branch, with Mr J. Leslie as president, Messrs Cox, Piekford and R. Shaw constituting the executive committee.
