LONDON, Sept. 19
At the wool sales a very good tone prevailed,' and there was keen general competition. Prices were very firm. New Zealand Kaiapoi brought 39d.
PRICES ADVANCE IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, Sept. 22. The wool sales have .been resumed. Competition was keen, especially for well-grown and fine qualities, with a hardening tendency, and prices were about five per 'cent, above last week’s rates. All other classes were in strong demand at late rates. An outstanding feature was strong competition on French and German account. Greasy merinos touched 40|d and scoured 64Jd, the latter a season record.

Wed del and Co., Ltd., dated London, 19th inst., last week’s prices being given in parentheses: Danish butfer7 222 s to 224 s (210 s to 2125); New Zealand salted. 210 sto 212 s (208 s to 208 s); good enquiry. Cheese, white 92s to 94s (945), coloured 91s to 92s (925).; market quiet.

At our Stratford Haymarket sale on Saturday we report a full yarding of pigs, and every ’pen sold under the hammer. Prices were on a par with last week’s sale, with the exception of weaner pigs, which eased 3s to 5s in price. Quotations: Heavy stores, £2 3s 6d to £2 7s 6d, lighter sorts from 38s to £2 2s; weaners, small 14s to 17s, medium I9s to 235, good 25s to 31s; pedigree boar £6 6s. At Kaponga sal© on September 1 we report a good yarding of both store and dairy stocky which sold at late rates. Quotations: Yearling heifers £2 8s 6d to £2 19s; fat cows up to £7 7s; good forward cows, £3 to £4 12s; stores 29s to £2 16s; in-calf heifers, £6 to £9 10s; guaranteed sound dairy cows £6 10s to £9 10s; poorer sorts £2 5s to £4. At a special dairy sale at Stratford on Saturday last we report a moderate yarding of heifers and cows, which sold readily at the hammer, one particularly nice-looking Jersey realising £l7. Quotations: Good dairy cows, close up, £6 10s to. £l3 10s; backward sorts. £4 5s to £5 10s; heifers in milk, £5 to £7 os; springing heifers, £5 10s to £8 10s.
FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. At Opunake on Monday, 22nd inst., we report a good yarding, fat and store cattle selling well. In the dairy pens a big percentage of heifers showed quality, but were low conditioned and consequently sold accordingly. We quote: Fat cows. £5 os to £7 16s; forward eows, £3 10s to £5; boners and works’ cows at late rates; yearling heifers, £2 ss; mixed colours and small, 27s to 38s. In the dairy pens second calvers made £8 to £8 ss; dairy heifers, best £7 to £B, more backward £5 10s to £6, small and low conditioned, £4 to £5 ss. Pigs: Sows to farrow, £3 10s; weaners, 225.
N.Z. LOAN CO.’S REPORT
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Hawera branch) report as follows: — On Friday, 19th inst., at Palmer Road, vve held our usual fortnightly sale. We had a medium yarding of both store and dairy cattle, which was disposed of at prices satisfactory to vendors. We- quote: Forward cows, £3 to £4 ss; stores and boners at late rates; springing heifers (medium), £5 to £B, ss; poor condition ditto, £3 to £4 10s; Jersey and Jersey cross yearling heifers (medium), £2 2s to £2 ss. At Kakaramea, on the 22nd inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale, and a good yarding came forward. We report a total clearance at prices on a par with recent sales. We quote: Forward cows, £3 2s to £4 14s; stores and boners, £1 to £2 6s; Jersey and Jersey cross yearling heifers, 36s to £2 'ss; springing heifers (medium), £5 10s to £8 10s; others, £4 to £5 ss.
