MELBOURNE, Sept. 23. Mr Gibson, Postmaster-General* interviewed on his return from England, said he could hold out no hope of penny postage. He,was trying to run the post office on a business basis, and a return to penny postage Would mean the loss of £BOO,OOO. The Stockholm Postal Conference’s decision to reduce transit charges 25 per cent would mean a loss of £20,000 to Au»tralia.
