The principal item of interest at this morning’s dehate in the League of Nations Assembly' was the report of the Mandate’s Commission presented by Dr. Nansen, who returned early in the morning from Lake,Constance after an interview with Dr. Marx. Dr. Nansen expressed appreciation of Mr Hofmeyer’s co-operation during the discussions .of the Permanent Mandate Commission, and hoped that other mandatory Powers would follow the example of South Africa, and in future depute to the Mandate Commission officials who were personally responsible for (. the, administration of . the mandated territories. , ' Mr Buxton declared that the ques- ' tion of the prohibition of tne liquor traffic in. the mandated territories needed further investigation.
