Dissatisfaction amongst the office employees of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha Steamship Line culminated in the resignation. of a large number. bf employees both locally and abroad. The resignations include managers and submanagers at branch offices in Japan, India, China, Seattle, New York, London, Liverpool, and "Hamburg, and also a number of executive officers at the head office. The trouble is stated, to have arisen after the dismissal of certain • officials 'following upon a protest against; the present policy of management. A conference of directors has been called to discuss* the position. Received Sept. 23, 10.25 a.m. TOKIO, Sept. 22. A statement issued after a. directors meeting this afternoon explains that the employees were dismissed as a disciplinary measure because they attempted to interfere with the administrative affairs of the company. The meeting decided vo watch developments, in the meantime attempting to reconcile the rebellious faction. The President, Ito, interviewed, deplored which had been long existent. He declared that the authorities considered that the present is the time to effectively remedy the situation.. He announced that he will not decide on his own action till harmony is restored.—Reuter.
