TE ROTI=OPUNAKE LINE.

WORK PROCEEDING FAVOURABLY. The Te Roti-Onunake railway line is being pushed ahead, and the ‘work is progressing favourably. This morning a Star reporter saw a portion of several. trucks of sleepers for the new line (about 200 tons). These will be used for the line from the present Kapuni site. The Department are also shortly receiving tenders lor six station builctmgs between Te Roti and Auroa. The completed portion of the line at present ends at Matapu, but by the time the tenders for the station buildings are received the department hope to have a further section laid and the line opened as far a.s Auroa. This Mill be good news to intending contractors, who will have the new portion at their disposal for transit of their materials, and a large amount of handling will be done away with. With the line completed as far as Kapuni, there will be a total of eleven miles sixty-six chains of new road open from Te Roti Junction .
