OVER £IOO LOST. (by telegraph—muss association.) PALMERSTON N., Sept. 20. I An. audacious, theft in a public j street was perpetrated one evening this week, when an elderly man had his pocket picked and a wallet containing over £IOO stolen. According to.the victim’s story he had withdrawn £122 10s from the Post Office Savings Bank last week. On Tuesday evening lie decided to go for a walk While in Main Street he was passing two men, one of whom allegedly put his arm around the victim’s neck and at the same time gripped him by the chin. The old man was taken aback and too surprised to say or do anything. The alleged assailant then released the old man. who later discovered that the wallet was missing. The police are investigating the -torv.
