Wu Pei Fu, interviewed, declared liis determination to subjugate Chang Tso Lin and eliminate him as ruler in Manchuria and to re-establish the authority of the Central Government. He is preparing an army of 200,000 with four squadrons of aeroplanes aud combined navies to attack Chang.— Renter.
An official despatch reports that the Government troops near Chaoyang shot down an enemy aeroplane, and that three of Changtsolin’s companies have gone over to the Government near Chaoyang. A so-called independent navy sailed from Shanghai on September 21 to join Wu Pei Fu’s northern fleet. The Chekiangites have shortened the Hwangtu-Luiho front, establishing a new front at Kashing along the Shanghai-Hangchow railway/- line, with the second army withdrawn from Ghanghing. Lu rejects the peace overtures made to him. After a temporary lull fighting broke out to-night.— Reuter.
