This game, which, was played on Saturday, resulted in a win for the Reps, by three goals to nil, before a- crowd of about 400 spectators. The ground was in splendid condition, and a fast game was expected, but while the game was interesting at times, it did not compare very favourably with the games played earlier in the season,-both sides showing lack of training. The teams were: —Taranaki: Goal, 'Renwick (Hawera); backs, Beare (Ha-w-era), Betteridge (Manaia) • halves, Barker, Pooch (Hawera), Brown (Auroa); forwards. Plant (Auroa), Poillard (Kaponga), Galloway, J. Campbell, W. Campbell (Hawera). New Plymouth: Goal, Roystou; backs, Holmes and Matthews; halves, J. Thomson, Hughes and Herds on: forwards, Bell, Shepherd, P. Thomson, I South and Harlow'. | Taranaki won'the-toss and P. Thomson started the ball rolling. Immediately New' Plymouth made tracks for Taranaki’s goal, but were pulled up by Beare, who sent well over the half-way linc. Plant secured and took the ball to the flag and centred. J. Campbell tested Roystou, who cleared smartly. Pooch started .another attack, and passed to Pollard, who worked in and beat Royston with a great shot, and opened the rep’s account after five minutes’ play. From -the kick off Campbell secured and sent tb Pooch, who let Plan! away again. Holmes stopped him when dangerous, and in doing so put his knee out, and had to leave the field, his place being taken by Skjellerup. Holmes had been playing well against a strong wing in Galloway and Plant, and it was a pity lie was not able to finish the game. New- Plymouth now began to assert themselvcts, and kept play in the visitors’ half. Renwick played a great game, saving from P. Thomson and Shepherd. Harlow heat Barker and passed in to South, vhc sent behind. From the free kick J. Thomson dropped the ball in front of the goal, and Beare cleared with a hefty kick. 'Shepherd and Bell got in some nice passing. Betteridge got his head to Shepherd’s final shot, and there the reps, got away. Pollard beat all opposition except Roystou, who made a good save. Matthews stopped the Campbell brothers when dangerous, and the game was in midfield when halftime came, the reps, leading I—o.1 —0. ■I On the re-start both sides to put more ginger into the game. New Plymouth tried hard to score, P. Thomson hitting the side of the net with a lightning shot. Brown relieved the pressure and sent the Campbell Bros, away. They got within striking distance, but then were off-side. Pooch, passed to Galloway, who pleased the spectators with some clever footwork. Mathew's proved the stumbling block. Pooch tried a,long shot, which Royston fisted out. J. Campbell tried a; firsttimer and sent inches wide. Hughes cleared well and New Plymouth forwars came down in line. Barlow was ruled off-side when a goal looked a certainty. From the free kick Beare punted well down and Pooch passed to Pollard to Galloway to Plant, who raced in and scored the second goal for the reps. Five minutes later, following an attack on the reps’ goal, the same player took the ball down from the half-way line and netted, but the goal w r as disallqw r ed for some infringement. The reps, were doing most of the attacking now', and Plant tried another solo, but was stopped by the speedy r Skjellerup. Herdson robbed Galloway and sent to Bell' to Shepherd, who tested Renwick with a long high. shot. Remvick fisted out, and Thomson shot straight for goal. Bettridge -seemed to come from nowhere and cleared from the goalmouth. Pollard, who had played a great- game at centre forward for the Reps., took a nice pass from J. Campbell, and ran through to register number 3. New r Plymouth were attacking when the final whistle went, leaving the Reps, undefeated this season. The Reps.’ record for this season is: v.
