At Eltham on Wednesday, although J there was only a fair yarding of store vnitie, the dairy pens were filled. There was a good attendance and we are able to report a>,successful sale. NEWTON KING, LTD., REPORT. At ltahotu sale yesterday we had a j full yarding of cattle and report a very good sale throughout. Yearling heifers in particular showed a decided improvement in vaues, and all other classes sold readily at late rates. Quotations: Small and poor conditioned yearling heifers, 19s 6d to 24s 6d; crossbred yearling heifers, 35s to £2 6s 6d; good quality yearling Jersey heifers, £-4 I.3s'and £4 16s- second quality do.. £3 5s to £3 15s; 2-year empty heifers, 35s to £2 4s; yearling steers, 35s tc. £2 ss; sound empty Jersey cows, £2 1.2 s 6d to £4 Is; fat cows, £5 Ss 6d to £6 4s 6d; forward conditioned cows. £2 17s to £4; young store ows, £1 17s 6d to £2 15s; springing Jersey heifers, £7 to £10; Holstein do.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercaptile Agency Co., Ltd., have received" the following cable from their London house under date September 16:— .. September wool sales. —There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being keen with fairdemand .from Germany, and prices as compared with the close of preceding sales ruled about 10 per cent, higher for medium v crossbred, and about 7sto 10 per cent, higher for merino, fine crossbred, about 10 to -15 per cent, higher for medium crossbred slipe. The opening catalogues were, representative. * The Bank of New Zealand produce department has received the following advice from its London office under date 16th inst.: —The sales have opened with strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. There is an active derhand by all branches of the trade. Merinos and good fine and medium crossbreds are 3d to 4d per lb higher than las*i sales; other de scriptions 2d to 3d per lb higher. Messrs Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., renort having received the following cable from their London ..house under date of the 16tlr instant : —Wool . sales opened active with competition brisk. Attendance of buyers is large. Strong demand from Continent and Uni Ice [ Kingdom. Fair selection. As compared 'with last sales’ - closing rates, greasy merino wools were 2d to 3d higher, ' scoured merino wools 2Vd to 31-d higher, greasy crossbred wools fine quality 2d’ to 3d* higher, greasy crossbred medium and coarse quality ,2cl ■to 2-i-d higher-, scoured crossbred wools-;-Ud higher, slipe wools lid to 2ld higher.”
