SHOCKING ACCIDENT
MAN CAUGHT IN SHAFTING
William Henry Hart, a married man, aged' 34 years, met with ’ a shocking accident at Eltham this morning, which resulted in his death. Hart, who was a mechanic employed at the Eltham Box Company’s factory, in company with the manager and two other employees, had occasion to go into a tunnel, seven feet by seven, in order to examine the shaft, which was making 250 revolutions a minute. He. was wearing an apron, which somehow became entangled in the. shaft, Hart being killed from the terrible injuries. Deceased leaves a widow and three children, with whom the deepest sympathy will be felt. An inquest will he held at Eltham.
Our Eltham correspondent states that Hart was caught in a large belt and hurled round, and was killed instantly. Deceased had been employed at the factory for a number of years, and was well known in Eltham. He had been a member of the Eire Brigade for a considerable period.
