QUALITY DISCUSSED
IKY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASFiIOTATION.'I AUCKLAND, Sept. 17. At the annual conference of Auckland provincial dairy managers, Mr. A. A. Thornton (chief Government grader here) said the quality of cheese had been very good so far this season. He did not know whether he could say the same for butter, but the quality was improving.
The conference decided to approve strongly of the raising of the butter grading points from 88 to 90 as a. minimum for first grade. It was also decided to recommend the department that cream and milk grading be compulsory and that a standard reduction in the payment for second-class cream be made throughout New Zealand:
