ROTORUA TOURNAMENT.

Play in the Rotorua golf tournament, owing to lieuA’y rain,- Avas suspended till this afternoon. A fine round yesterday by R. C. Kirk (liutt) and the good showing of Trontbeck (Napier); T. Horton (Masterton) and K. Duncan (Wellington) were the principal features of the qualifying round.
WANGANUI CHAMPIONSHIP
WANGANUI, Sept. 17. annual championship tourney of the Wanganui Club opened this morning in unfavourable Aveather. A steady rain fell all night, and continued throughout the morning. The entries were fairly large, but would have been better had it not been for numerous other tournaments. Three or four good cards were returned up to lunch, the best being Goss (Wanganui), who Avent out in 34 and came home in 40; E. Knight, 40 out and 36 in; Powdrell. 82; Harrison, 81.
1 arsons (Wanganui) 87, with a handicap of 18 and a total of 69. was the winner of the medal in the morning round.
