SCHOOL SHOOTING

During his visit to Ncav Plymouth, His Excellency the Governor-General A r isited the High School and presented to the team that had proved tliemsetees the most efficient shooting unit amongst the boys of tlie Dominion, the silver bowl Avhieli three years’ ago he presented for competition and Avhieh bad been Avon by NeAV Plymouth in 1921 and 1923, and by Nelson in 1922. His Excellency Avas received arid A\*elcomed by tlie Board of Governors and by the Headmaster (Mr IV. H.. Moyes). The latter in a brief speech said that ho victory was so popular at the school as the Avinning of the A'ery fine bowl presented by Lord Jellicoe. In presenting the trophy. Lord Jellicoe congratulated the school on their success, and said he hoped tlie boys would always enter as keenly into their Avork as they did into their sports. Eagerness, keenness and sportsmanship, he concluded, Avould make the Dominion a jewel in the crown of the Empire; indeed it already was a jeAvel in the crown of the Empire. It remained with the boys and girls to carry out the destiny of the Dominion . On behalf of the school S. Fookes received the trophy, and was congratulated by Lord and Lady Jellicoe. Medals were then presented to the members of the teams, \yho were present as folloAV.s: —Sergeant-Major J. D. Mackay. Sergeant-Major IV. E. Alexander, Sergeant M, Bree, Sergeant M. L-ysous, Corporal D. O’Halloran, Cadet R. Buick, Cadet R. Fletcher, Cadet N. MaeDairmid. An interesting function then concluded Avith hearty cheers by the boys. Hi« Excellency also paid a visit to the Technical College and inspected the cadets, congratulating them on their good shooting and c-ommeding them on good sportmanship shorvn in connection with the shooting for the trophy.
