BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT Received Sept. 16, 1.45 p.m.
DELHI, Sept., 15. It is estimated that there were fifty casualties during the Kohat riots.. The fires have been quelled, but the main portions of tjie city were destroyed, and the place is practically deserted. There has been looting on an extensive scale, and many wealthy residents have been rendered penniless. Lucknow is in the hands of the military, and the curfew is -in. operation..
Under the noses of the patrolling military, victims are stabbed by ruffians and the city’s hospitals are full of wounded. These and ether instances of communal bitterness are causing anxiety.—Sydney Sun Cable.
