GOLF.
GAME IN NEW ZEALAND
IMPROVEMENT OF COURSES,
BY fUBLE—fREHS ASSOCIATION—-COPYRIGHI
Received Sept. 16, 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 15. A leading- golf authority says that leading professionals, who are course architects, are greatly .interested in New Zealand’s proposal to improve local courses. The suggestion to invite two experts indicates a wish to combi 11 e exhibition games with the receipt of experts. This would be costly, as experts would not- visit the ctlier end of the world without a big fee, probably £6OO to £7OO far a three months’ tour of New Zealand, suggests F. G. Hawtrey, an expert in modern courses, who is in partnership with J. H. Taylor. Hawtrey, interviewed, said he was interested in the proposal, and it was a matter of terms only. He might be able to persuade Taylor to accompany him. He mentioned other outstanding experts—Varden, Ray, Braid, Duncan, Sherlock and Boomer.—Sydney Sun Cable. . ‘
