(.from Our Own Correspondent). SEASIDE SOCIETY. The general meeting of the Waimate 1 ktins Seaside Novelty Ball Committee was held on Friday night- in the Mana-ia Town Hall, Mr P. T. Hammonds presiding over a good attendance. The secretary (Miss S. Lewin) submitted the balance-sheet of the novelty nail, which was very satisfactory, leaving a credit- balance after M eApenses' l ct £64 13s 6d. The meeting then adjourned to Monday night, and a hearty vote of thanks Avas passed to the chair.

GYMKHANA

The gymkhana to be held in the Manaia Domain on Wednesday, September 24, premises to be a great success, .and, weather' permitting, there should be a record attendance. A splendid programme has been arranged, including horse jumping events and pony jumping, bicycle and running events, baby show, stgfTping the chain, and numerous other events. Added to the programme is a golf driving event fo,r ladies "“and gents. There should be big nominations for this event. The Kapa Maori Avill be a A-erv big attraction. A Avhcle bullock Avill be roasted in the good old Maori style. A refreshment tent and afternoon tea tent will be on the ground, .also side slioavs. There will - be great excitement in the ToAvn Hall on the’evening of the gymkhana, the Taranaki championship tug-of-war commencing at 8 p.m. Several teams have .already nominated from different narts of the district, and the pulling Avill be very even. BetAveen the pulls a first-class concert programme will be submitted, so the public Avill be well catered for. Nominations for the tug-of-Avar dose on September 2ft Avith the secretary. A meeting of all committees and officials will l e held to-morroAV night (Tuesday) in the Hibernian H.-aJI to make final arrangements. SPORTS QUEEN CARNIVAL." There is to be a euchre party in aid of the sports queen in the Manaia Town Hall this evening. Good prizes will be gh T en. There should be a good attendance.
