THE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
There are subtle attractions about all games, but perhaps no game can rival golf for the hold which it secures over its devotees. .In New Zealand in recent years golf has grown in popularity, and one is never very far from a course. Football is regarded as New Zealand's national game, and it is natural that the interest in the doings of the All Blacks should be keen, but golfers have for days past been probably as keen over the results of the championships played at Auckland as they have been in football. For followers of golf in South Taranaki the matches carried more than usual interest because a popular member of the Eltliam and Hawera Clubs (Mr. L. Quin) gained a series of victories which brought him into the final, and in defeating a more experienced wellknown match player, Mr. Quin deserves the hearty congratulations which have been sent to him from his many friends. By winning the championship Mr. Quin has brought a proud honour to the district, and we desire to join in the congratulations which he is'receiving.
