TARANAKI Y. WANGANUI
Taranaki had a runaway victory over Wanganui in a match at Elitham on Saturday. Philnotts opened the scoring account for Taranaki, and later goals were notched by Pennington, Irwin and Lambic (‘2), before lnill’-time. Wanganui secured only one goal, Allen being .successful. Ju the second spell scoring slowed down, due to poor shooting. After some twenty minutes’ play Pennington go: the lia.ll 'through, and later Irvin,e and Philnotts scored, the game ending in Taranaki’s favour by K goals to 1. Messrs A. Fisher and H. C. -Johnstone were the referees. The Eltham Hockey Club entertained the visitors at dinner in the evening. The Hawera Hinemoa Rovers met Wanganui at Hawera on Saturday, the game resulting in a win for the Rovers by 5 goals to 3. Misses Maehin (?.), Peterson and Lyall scored for Hawera.
