With this in view a telegram was despatched to him in Wanganui, signed by his Worship the Mayor, the president (Mr H? L. Spratt), and business manager (Mr J. G. Osborne). The telegram was as follows: “This society delighted Your Excellency attendedi Wanganui amateurs’ ‘Gay Parisienne’ last evening. We are staging ‘Our Miss Gibbs’’ for three nights, commencing Wednesday, I.7th, day after Your Excellency’s visit New Plymouth Territorial Ball, and we would like reserve seats Your Excellency and suite any of three nights suitable to you.
