LOOKING GLASS EYES.
SCHOOLBOY SEES BACKWARDS. Doctors in West Virginia are reported to be greatly interested in the case of Samuel Tiana, a fourth-grade pupil ‘in the town of Fairmont, who has what is known as “looking-glass” sight. Samuel, according to the published newspaper reports, see s backwards, and even sees things coming towards him that are actually going away. The boy moved to Fairmont several weeks ago and entered the fourth grade. Something seemed to be the matter with his sight arid an examination was arranged. The boy- had turned in some homework, and it was noticed that all his letters were backwards, beginning at the right-hand side of the paper and going over to the left, so that it was unreadable unless reflected in a mirror. Instinct has taught the youth to take care of himself. He realises when he is crossing a street that a car.or other vehicle which seems to be going away from him is actually coming towards him. Sam, when he sbes steps which seem to lead up, steps down or goes round them. Doctors who have examined the boy state that there is no cure for mirror < vision, but it is thought lie can be trained to read and write correctly. He can copy writing exactly now,"but when left alone writes from the wrong side of the paper. *?
