HAWERA OPERATIC SOCIETY.

“OUR MISS GIBBS/’ BOX PLAN NOW OPEN. GREAT DEMAND FOR SEATS. The popularity of this prettj r and attractive opera lias been marked ever since it was put before the public, and that the Hawera’ public appreciates the enterprise of Ihe Hawera Operatic Society in placing-"the opera on their season’s programme was amply shown by the excellent booking recorded this morning when the box plan opened at Everybody’s Sweet Store. It shows that the season next week, from Wednesday to Friday, is going to be an outstanding success. The producer, Mr. T. E. Foster, is sparing no effort to ensure that success, and after last night’s rehearsal expressed himself as very pleased with the work of both principals and chorus. They showed a most desired snap in their work which promises very well indeed for the performance. To-night there will be a full dress parade to enable the producer to evolve his scheme for the tout ensemble of the performance on the opening night. The chorus have been rehearsed carefully and enthusiastically by the musical director, Mr. F. H. Ollerenshaw, and are showing an excellent volume of tone and good balance and blend in the concerted work. A strong orchestra will be with them, comprising the best artists in the district. The whole combination forms probably the best ever assembled for an amateur production in Hawera. The season promises to be a huge success.
