CHURCH UNION. SYDNEY, Sept. 12. The committee’s report on church union between the Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational churches of Australia lias been presented to the Presbyterian Assembly. It stated, inter alia, that the fact that there is such divided State feeling and opinion among offiee-bearers and the people of the Presbyterian Church over bringing about organic union- makes it inadvisable, for the present, to press forward to organic union on a common basis of doctrine and polity at the risk of serious division and fresh separation. The committee therefore recommended that negotiations be suspended.
