(To the Editor) Sir, On Sunday/ September 21, the citizens of every town and city in Eulope will fee demonstrating against war this day having been set aside for the purpose. The Labour Party is making arrangements to co-operate' throughout the Dominion, and a public l -.. <r will h©c,held in Hawera that •m’ i the following resolutions will.be moved: “This meeting of citizens of Hawera, New Zealand, sends rraternal greetings to smilar gathermgs no\v being held throughout the world; joins with them in.declaring it to be tlie dutj' of'all peoples and governments; to strive for universal disarmament, and calls upon" the New Zealand Government to—.(a). Pursue a policy of international co-operation, (b) support- a strengthened and enlarged League of Nations, (c) urge the setttement of international disputes by conciliation and judicial arbitration, and (d) support the convocation of an international conference to achieve these purposes.” “That a eop\ r of the above resolutions he forwarded to the Prime Ministers of New Zealand and Great Britain.” A meeting to discuss deof organising will he held at theOddfellows’ Hall on Monday evening next. Invitations have been ,sent to the rmnisters of the various churches n ? Hawera and to other prominent citizens inviting their co-operation, but doubtless there are * many others in sympahv with, the movement iwho would like to assist.
