Our Tokaora correspondent writes: the funeral of the late Mr. Thomas -Lavery, Tokaora. which took place on Sunday, was largely attended, Tokaora turning out in force, and friends coming from long distances to nay their respects to the deceased and ‘family, .-.ass was celebrated, and the greater portion of the burial service was read at fet. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Hawera, by Monsignor Power. The Monsignor gave a stirring address, dilatinoon the excellent qualities of the deceased—lm Christian charitv and his liberal gifts to tlie church, • bis actions being worthy of other members of the c lurch to emulate, the Mohsignor conclodmg hi s remarks with the words: Blessed are the dead who die in the -ord. for their good works do follow ,he ]Tl . > The ceremonv at the o-rave-cide \vas taken bv the Rev. Father Tnhn Power. The pnll-bearers were Messrs Andrew Frevne and James Fitzgerald (Tokaora), B. MeCarthv and llioinas Rellv (Hawern). and P. and J McCormack (Mnngn+oki). The chief mourners were the deceased’s four sons uid son-in-law
