COMING OF SILK.
TAKING PLACE OF COTTON
8Y CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—OOPYBIGHT ■ PARIS, Sept. 4., Professor Maxwell Lefroy, of the Imperial Science College, states that cotton is becoming so expensive that manufacturers are turning to silk. Experiments Justify the hope that silk will shortly become one of the most important Empire products, though the present output in outlying Empire areas was surprisingly small. India was the highest, with only two per cent, of the world’s production.
