STRIKE OF REFEREES
AMICABLY SETTLED

GISBORNE, Sept. 6. The dispute between the Rugby Union and the Referees’ Association has been amicably settled. The referees downed thejr whistles as a protest against the action of the judicial committee of tlie union in dismissing the referees’ charge against players who were alleged to have used insulting language in the street. The Union has now agreed to give the referees every protection off the field until the New Zealand Rugby Union gives a decision on the dispute and decides whether or not tlie union has nower to do SB.
