AUCKLAND, Sept. 5; , The golf champion ships began at Middlemore this morning: The weather was fair, but a high wind was blowing. Thirty-six . pairs take part in the first round for the open championship. A. Duncan (Wellington) did a record round of 71. The next best were: Kapi Sareha (Napier) 76, R. D. Wright (Auckland) 77, H. B. Lusk (Auckland), Mclntosh (Lower Hutt), Moss (Auckland), and Goss (Wanganui) each 79.
