CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE

CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 4. The wool sale held to-day was practically a sale of crutchings, the catalogue being comprised of quite 80 per cent of such fleece. Wool was represented by odd lots of stragglers’ wool. The catalogue comprised 1677 hales, and the disposal served to clear the decks for the incoming clip. There was a very bright sale, and to all appearances there is nothing in the present wool position to cause any misgivings as to the maintenance of recent values. Only an odd lot or two was passed. The bench of buyers was a -ully representative one, Home buyers operating freely an(l dividing the cata"ell with local fellmongers. The best prices were: Merino fleece, 2/d; merino pieces, 20d; half-bred fleece, 27^d; half-bred pieces, 20td • half-bred crutchings, 19d; half-bred bellies, merino crutchings, 18£d; three-quarter-bred crutchings, 16d: crossbred crutchings; 15-jd.
