Ihe concert kindly given by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Association in aid oir the local hall was greatly appreciated by the audience. Unfortunately there was a very poor house, perhaps tine to the pictures being held just before a.nd the vSeotch concert coining oil .this Friday. In the absence of the chairman Mr Palmer thanked the performers for their kindness in coming so far and for the excellence of the programme, .which .whs as follows: o lee, ‘‘Gypsies,” choir of nine voices; song. “Mary of Argvle,” Mr Hook, encore, “Two eves of grey”; recitation, “A Smack in School,” Miss Echo Hey; song, “In that old-fashion-ed town,” Mrs Alty, encore ‘‘The song that readied my heart” ; song, “The Royalist Maiden'.” Mr W. Hey; song, “The Diver,’,’ Mr Lonsdale; character Sl ; |l g> “lu her clogs and shawl,” Mrs Birtwhistle, encore “A Lassie from Lancashire” ; duet, “Life’s dream is o er, ’ M;- and Mrs Hook, encore “Madam! will you walk?”; trio, .“Annie Laurie,” Mr and Mrs Hook and Mr Lonsdale. The second half of the program me consisted of items by the Versatile Four—Messrs J. Riley as “Sambo,” F. Parkinson as “Reuben,” \Y. Turner as “Raslus,” and A. Riley as “Razz.” Their items were mainly comic, of course, including: “Ours is a nice bouse, ours is.” “Swim, Sam Swim.” “Me don’t sell fish, only kippers,” “Dees. dose, and clem,” “If you want to keen your wife at home never let her learn to iazz,” interspersed with witty sayings,’ riddles, etc. After supper the'“Four” played for the dance, extras beincr nlaved bv Miss Collins. *. " I believe the Hall Committee intend holding a plain and fancy dress ball about the 19th of this month to open the new supper room.
