MANAWATU CHAMPIONSHIP. BID WILL WINS FINAL. PALMERSTON N., Sept. 2. The final of the Manawatu Golf Club’s championship was played today between . Ekstedt ; (Manawatu) holder of the title, and Bidwill (Wairarapa). Bidwill won by 6 up and 4. SOUTH AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. HAMILTON, Sept. 2. In the final of the South Auckland amateur golf championship, T. H. Horton (Masterton) beat J. Goss (Wanganui) 7 up and 5 to play. NEW PLYMOUTH LADIES. CHAMPIONSHIP TO MISS BREWSTER. T Miss A. Brewster defeated Mrs J. C. Nicholson by 3 up and 1 to play in the final of the New Plymouth Golf Club’s ladies’ championship. The match w-as played on the Waiwakaiho links in glorious weather under ideal golfing conditions. A feature of the play was the consistency of both the champion and the runner-up. Miss Brewster played to bogey in no less than 10 out of the 18 holes, while Airs Nicholson did the same at seven holes and registered a2 at the third hole. At the' fifth hole Mrs Nicholson was 1 up on her opponent, hut Miss Brewster regained her lead at 'the seventh, and did not lose it again. To compete at the Wanganui tournament on September 10, 11 and 12, a team composed, of the following ladies will leave from. New Plymouth next week: Mrs Nicholson, Miss Brewster, Mrs Q.’uilliam, Miss Home, Airs Williams, Airs Mac Diarmid, Miss Read, Airs Scanlan, Mrs AlcWilliarn, Airs Anderson and Aliss Shaw. The team will play a match against the Wanganui ladies o.n Friday, September 12, in conjunction with a. bogey match.
