MARKET REPORT. The Earmein' Co-op. Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report: At Opunake on Monday, August 25, a fair yarding was entered, and everything was sold at the hammer. Sow to lnrrow £5 ss, good store pigs £1 17s, weaner pigs 15s to £l. Is, -forward and fat cows £2 Vis (kl to £3 15s, old cows and boners £l to £1 10s, Jersey yearling heifers, good quality £3 Is. others £1 6s to £2 ss. In the dairy pens a good number of heifers were yarded. Though lacking m condition, these sold well. Best heifers for quality and close up made £9 5s to £lO ids, others £7 to £8 10s, more backward sorts £4 15s to £6.
At Manaia on Tuesday pigs sold wall. Good store pigs £2 ss, weaner pigs £1 to £1 I.os, tat cows and heifers £4 and £4 10s, works cows £1 2s Od to £3. Dairy heifers, Jersey cross, nice quality £9 ss, other good heifers of dairy quality to £8 10s, smaller and more backward sorts £3 5s to £6.
On Tuesday we crnulnetod cur -usual fort-nighLlv sale- at Stratford. We are pleased to report a good yarding, especially in the dairn pens. We quote. Store cows, to £2 os, boners £1 tc. 30s. There was a keen demand for sound empty cows, one line making an average price- of £4 os. others to £3. In the yearling pens there was a slight improvement on late sales. Jersey arm .'Jersey cross sorts £*l 10s to £2 10s, others lbs to £l. Although wt> were unable to get an early start in the dairy pens we were able to quite the large majority of those being offered. Dairy cows close to profit made from £6 to £7 10s. heifers to £(5 lVs. A line of more backward heifers were cleared at £4. 10s.
On Tuesday we- said at Stony Rive:, and we report- a small yarding' Quotations: Weaners 7s, M.T. heifers 20s, store and boner cows 11s to 28s.
At Inglewood on Wednesday, 27th inst., we report a good yarding in the dairy pens, although very few head ot store cattle were yarded.' There was a demand for yearlings, and all those yarded v.eve cleared at the hammer. We quote : Forward cows to £3, store and bc.n-er cows £1 7s to £2; Jersey and Jersey cross yearling heifers to 31s 6d. steers (Holstein) £1 2s, dairy cows (close to profit) to £7 os, heifsirs, best sorts from £6 to £7 10s, others at hit? rates.
At Allison on Tuesday. 20th inst., there was a, small yarding, which was all sold at the hammer. Forward cows made up to 3s, stores and works cows at late rates. A small lino of Jersey yearling heifers, good colour, hut fairly lew condition, made Sots. Deed quality and condition dairv heifers made to £9 os, others from £O..
