ON TRIAL BY SOVIET MILITARY
COURT.
ALLEGED LEADER OF COUNTERREVOLUTIONARY PLOTS.

A well-known anti-Bolshevik, Boris Savinkoff, who was arrested in Russian territory on the 20th, is now being tried by the Supreme Military Court. He is alleged to be the leading spirit of most of the counter-revolu-tionary plots of recent years operating outside Russia.
Received Aug. 30, 9.25 a.m. MOSCOW, Aug. 29. Savinkoff was sentenced to death, but was recommended to mercy, consequent on the remarkable statement that lie considered all his counterrevolutionary activities mistaken. He recognised the justice of the revolution and acknowledged that. he was guilty of the charges. He concluded: “f recognise the power of the Soviet, and say that he who loves the Russian nation must recognise the Soviet power. 1 ask no pity.”
