SUDAN TROUBLE.

ENGINEERED BY SECRET SOCIETY

AN EGYPTIAN KU KLUX KLAN

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. r LONDON, Aug. 29. The Daily Express publishes a despatch from its Khartum special correspondent, Mr. J. C. Ketehum, describing the position in the Sudan. He declares that the White Flag League, a mysterious secret society, a veritable Ku Klux Klan of Egypt, engineered the recent disorders. The league’s motto is “Down with British rule. Down' with England.” The Atbara attack was a vicious affair, resulting in damage estimated at £BOOO. Railway coaches just arrived from England were wrecked and the British flag was torn down. Nevertheless there "is no doubt the population is free and contented and wholly favours British Administration, hoping to gain the necessary knowledge to govern- themselves eventually.
