CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

MONTHLY MEETING

At the ordinary meeting last night Mr. E. C. Fletcher (vice-president) was in the chair. Other members present were Messrs. F. Gillanders and A. Sellar and R. Sage (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs. T. Taylor, J. B. Murdoch,- E. Dixon, B. McCarthy and R. A. Douglas.

A letter was received from the Prime Minister in reference to the suggestion made by the Chamber that the moratorium be terminated on March 31, 1925, stating that the matter will receive careful consideration. TOURIST TR AFFIC.

The Wellington Chamber of Cornmere wrote to say they were arranging a deputation to wait on the Prime Minister on Thursday, September 11.

It was decided to reply that a delegate would be sent if possible, and that if not a telegram would be forwarded. The chairman said all would agree that they strongly approved of the matter and would he glad to see more tourist traffic in this province. Copies of (1) system of awards, rules and classification of exhibits; (2) conditions and regulations were received from the secretary of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition for perusal by anyone interested. They add that later a meeting will he called to set up a local committee. GOVERNMENT WHEIAT. The Taranaki Chamber of Commerce wrote that some of the sacks used for shipment ex Karori were rotten, arid that the wheat controller had arranged with the Union Company to refill damaged bags. It was advised that the correct quantities would be delivered by the railways, and the Chamber were asked to advise those who took broken bags had no redress Mr. Gill'anders said this advice was too late to do any good, as in Hawera delivery of wheat had been taken vice 6 tUne bef ° re receipt of this adThis was all the business, and the meeting then adjourned.
