“The sleeping cars on the North Island Main Trunk lino are a disgrace to the Dominion,” was the opinion expressed by Mr. G. D. MaeFarlane. a well-known fruit merchant, of Christchurch. He added that the ears are- just the same as they were 10 or 12 years ago,-and there appeared to be no idea of improving them. Mr. MaeFarlane has just relumed from a visit to America, and his experiences on the North Island Main Trunk line were, he slated, the most uncomfortable he had met with on his travels. He had been informed there was better sleeping accommodation on the railways 1 in China.
