(By Telegraph.—Soecial to Star). WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. The Minister of Education announced vo-tiay that Cabinet had resolved to place on the Estimates a. grant for £2OOO for subsidies in aid of country libraries. This amount will be distributee! in small, sums among smaller country libraries on a basis fixed by ,regulations. This grant obtained for some years prior to 1920, when the vote was withdrawn on the recommendation of the Economies Commission. MORE LOANS FOR ADVANCES. Following up the Prime Minister’s references at Levin to mousy which will be available for State advances, Mr Do La Petrel Ic- asked Mr Massey today il‘ he would inform the Bouse what amount of increased capital is to ;.j provided for the Advances Office to meet the undoubted demand from farmers. The Premier answered that he will make a, statement to the House in a day or two. He was making the necessary arrangements, but they were not quite complete: It may be added that members expect that a Loan Bill will be- introduced this session, not on account, of the Government having exhausted its borrowing authority in respect of ..public works, but for the reason that the Premier and his colleagues have come to the conclusion that the difficulties surrounding the moratorium can only be overcome'by having a good supply of capital in the State Advances Department alien the moratorium comes to an end. The Loan Bill will there-’ fore he solely foir this purpose. ■
