FOUND HANGING. (by telegraph—press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 26. Hugh Rowntree, 51, a butcher, residing at Beckenham, was found hanging from a rafter at the rear of a butcher’s shop in Sydenham this afternoon. He had been missing from his home since Monday.

CHILD BURNED. NELSON, Aug. 26. The five-year-old daughter of the Rev. Mr Fitzgerald, a Church of Christ minister, sustained burns this morning, which necessitated her removal to the hospital. The child, who was in a flannelette nightgown,“was standing in front of a fire when a spark set her garment alight. The child ran to her father, who immediately wrapped a rug round her, putting out the flames. The extent of the injuries is not yet known.
