Received August 26, 1.45 n.m. LONDON, Aug. 25. The pitch at Canterbury wa.s fast and hard, despite a light rain on Sunday. Knott batted for 100 minutes. Wright’s fast mediums defeated Taylor, Catterall and Nopen, and Freeman's tricky deliveries were most damaging. In the second innings, after the second wicket had added 63, Freeman took six for 12. Blackenberg .and Pegler then stopped the rot, adding 67 in half an hour. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
