“I say that the Englishman, as such, is the fairest man on God’s earth. He is fairer than we Scots. The Scots want to win, right or wrong, but the Englishman does not want to do that.” This striking testimony to the fair dealing of the Englishmen as a class was made by Professor John Adams, the distinguished educationist, in the course of his reply at the civic reception tendered to him at Christchurch. He added that a fellow-Scotsman }iad said to him on one occasion: “It has taken me 40 years to know these Englishmen,” and though it might be a long process knowing the characteristics of the Englishman, it was worth while, even if it took 40 years. A DUNEDIN BIND. A well-known business man stated that while cleaning up some new offices which he recently took over, there ! was discovered in an out-of-the-way corner a bottle of Baxter’s Lung Preserver, half full. It had apparently lain undisturbed for some years. It is difficult to ascertain the exact time when it was put there, but the label was a very old one. The moral lies in the fact that even long ago, commercial men found “Baxter’s” efficacious for coughs and colds. The bottle was onlj' half used, and one may conclude from this that the user found relief with but half a bottle, and put the remainder aside for future use. At this season of the year, when coughs and colds are so prevalent, you will wisely get a bottle of Baxter’s Lung Preserver. It is a rich- warming, soothing compound, which quickly gives relief. Also possesses splendid tonic properties. A generous-sized bottle can be obtained from any chemist or store for 2/6; or, better still, get the family size at 4/6. —67 That sleep-spoiling cough can be stopped by “Nazol. ” Take some drops on sugar. Penetrating and soothing: 60 drops 1/6. —Advt.
