BAD TENANT.

FIGHTS AGAINST EVICTION. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT, PARIS, Aug. 22. Exciting scenes were witnessed in the fashionable Place de la Madelaine when the police sought to evict Isac Zabo, an naturalised Austrian, from a sumptuous flat for non-payment of rent. Zabo at first confronted the bailiff and his men with a revolver, causing a precipitate flight. After that the police applied asphyxiating gas through the keyhole. Zabo, however, opened the windows, causing the gas to blow back on to the besiegers, several of whom were affected thereby.

Eventually a locksmith forced the door and Zabo was overthrown. He was arrested and ciiarged with violence.
