When lying sorely wounded on the heights of Chimuk Pair, on Gallipoli, m August, 1915, a New Zealand soldier was bandaged by a. comrade and given a drink of water. Fortunately he was able to be removed, and when he was taken to a dressing station on the beach the medical officer said the way in which the bandage had been applied had saved his life. The man went to the hospital in Egypt, and lost all trace of his benefactor till the other day, when he met him in the street in Dunedin, and found that he was down on his luck. The man who had saved his life was badly wounded in France, and was only fit for light work, which, however, as is well known, is difficult to find. Fortunately the Gallipoli man had prospered in his business since his return. He had tried during the past nine years to trace his benefactor, hut had been unable to do so. The result was that a comfortable position at no mean salary was found in the business for the man who, had at one time saved the life of his employer.
